Hello there, so lets jump right into what I thought about this dress because boy do I have a lot to say. I bought this dress from Amazon for Valentines day from HERE and let me tell you, my emotions are everywhere. I kept seeing it as inspo on Pinterest, I thought it was absolutely gorgeous, and the price was just right! It was 32$ and it came over night, which was a huge plus since I had procrastinated getting my Valentines Day outfit.
Fit & Comfort: Spot-On with a Sleeve Surprise 7.5/10
I’m usually a Medium, and this dress was true to size, hitting just above my knees (I stand at 5’7″). However, the sleeves played a bit of a trick on me, stopping 3-5 inches short of my wrists. Using this article as a guide I measured my sleeve length to be 20 inches in length, so maybe I just have longer arms than most? While I didn’t mind the slightly shorter sleeves, I still need to shave off a point for the fit since it was not advertised as a 3/4th sleeve length but as a long sleeve. On the bright side, the top is secured with a bow, giving you full control over the top’s fit. Plus, the bow held up like a champ, staying put without a hint of loosening during our 3-4 hour adventure! Which is a MUST considering how important that bows job is! It did not fall off or loosen up in the entirety of the 3-4 hours we were out and about.
Final Fit Score: 9
The fabric was breathable, keeping me at a comfortable temperature throughout the night. However, after ironing, it emitted a chemical odor straight out of a chem lab that lasted all night. I was so horrified I smelled like I walked out of a high school science experiment gone wrong! So, I’m docking 4 points for the anxiety!
Final comfort score: 6/10
Quality and Durability:
Ok, so the material is 100% Polyester, and not very good polyester because this is a HAND WASH ONLY ITEM!? I own multiple cashmere sweaters and silk pillowcases that I hand wash, dry, and read a bed time story to every night to make sure they’re happy but to do this for polyester is absolutely INSANE to me. The item also came with some loose strings here and there that I had to cut. I did throw this into the washer/dryer and it held up just fine, wash cold and tumble dry on medium heat but I am aware this will probably make it fall apart faster.
Now off to the worst part of this dress…. The WRINKLES!! It came smushed into a small plastic bag where it has probably lived its entire life because these wrinkles did not come out after a hand wash/hang dry (yes, I followed the instructions the first time lol). I tried to iron it on low/delicates setting as it says on the tag and the wrinkles weren’t coming out. As the reservation time creeped up on me like a ninja in the night, I desperately cranked up the heat on the iron to banish those stubborn wrinkles. To my amazement, they started to go! But then, a wretched chemical stench filled the air, as if I’d accidentally summoned a skunk with my iron. It was a classic case of “out of the crease and into the stink.” As i mentioned earlier, it lasted all night too. The first picture below shows the dress straight out of the packaging (ignore the mess in the background currently moving lol) The rest are of it ironed out and worn out for about 2 hours, luckily it didn’t wrinkle more while out and about!
Total Quality & Durability Score: 1/10
In conclusion, my experience with this dress was a rollercoaster of emotions. From the excitement of finding the perfect Valentine’s Day outfit to the horror of smelling like a chemistry experiment gone awry, it’s been quite the journey. While the fit and comfort were decent, with a final score of 9/10 for fit and 6/10 for comfort, the quality and durability left much to be desired, earning a dismal 1/10 for an average score of 5.33/10. The breathability of the fabric was a plus, but the persistent chemical odor and the wrinkle debacle were major drawbacks. In the end, I’d say this dress is a gamble. If you’re willing to overlook its flaws for the sake of style, go for it. But if you’re looking for a hassle-free, high-quality garment, you might want to keep searching.
Total Score: 5.33/10
